VNC Login

This guide explains how to use VNC Login in Desktop Portal to access a remote desktop through a graphical interface. Desktop Portal provides two VNC connection methods:

  • Web VNC: no additional software required; access the remote desktop directly in your browser.

  • VNC Client: use a third-party VNC client for richer features and better performance.

Prerequisites

  • You have a Desktop Portal account and are logged in.
  • You have at least one authorized desktop. Contact your administrator if needed.
  • You have desktop read permission and VNC connect/disconnect permission. Contact your administrator if needed.

Connect via Web VNC

  1. Log in to Desktop Portal and open Cloud Workbench from the top navigation bar.

  2. On the Cloud Workbench page, click VNC Login. A VNC window appears and lists your authorized desktops. Select a desktop name and wait a few seconds. Desktop Portal will open a VNC session to a desktop node automatically.

  3. After a successful connection, you will see the remote desktop UI. You can use your mouse and keyboard as if you were operating a local computer.

Connect via a VNC Client

tip
  • Your local computer and the desktop node must be on the same network, so your computer can reach the desktop node directly.
  • Install a VNC client on your computer first. For better experience, we recommend RealVNC Viewer. Desktop Portal supports one-click launch and quick connection for this client. If you prefer other VNC clients, they are also supported.
  1. Right-click the VNC connection icon and click open RealVNC Viewer. The system will show your authorized desktops.

  2. Select a desktop name and wait a few seconds. Desktop Portal will display VNC connection credentials for a desktop node. Copy the connection info. If you use RealVNC Viewer, one-click launch is supported.

  3. Open your VNC client and enter the copied connection information (for RealVNC Viewer, the system can auto-fill it).

    • Host: IP address or hostname of the remote desktop server.

    • Port: the VNC service port.

    • Password: the password for the remote desktop session.

  4. Click Connect. After a successful connection, you will see the remote desktop UI and can operate it with mouse and keyboard.
