Introduction to FCP

FCP (Fastone Compute Platform) is an enterprise-grade, one-stop R&D cloud platform provided by Fastone. With FCP, enterprises can build HPC clusters based on the Fsched scheduler and manage them throughout their full lifecycle. The platform's automated deployment and configuration management, monitoring and alerting, and operational analytics capabilities around the Fsched scheduler free IT teams from complex and highly specialized HPC environment management, reducing administrative cost while improving availability, reliability, and security. For R&D teams, the Fsched scheduler accelerates many high-performance computing workloads and improves overall resource efficiency. Through the FCP platform, R&D users can simplify routine operations such as job submission, cluster monitoring, and scheduling policy control, thereby improving productivity.

Fsched is a core component of FCP and other Fastone products. It is Fastone's self-developed HPC cluster resource management and job scheduling software. The scheduler is a critical component of high-performance computing platforms and an essential part of enterprise R&D IT environments. Through the scheduler, enterprises can centrally manage all computing resources and queue computing workloads. For most compute-intensive applications, the scheduler also improves computational parallelism, and this model has become the de facto standard in R&D workflows. The Fsched scheduler has complete independent intellectual property rights and has been proven in production environments across multiple industries, scales, and applications over many years, earning broad recognition for its performance, usability, and stability.

FCP is available in three editions: FCP-SE (Special Preinstalled Edition), FCP-Core, and FCP-Suite. FCP-SE is mainly designed for preinstalled all-in-one environments and provides a one-stop, out-of-the-box R&D platform that combines software and hardware. FCP-Core provides the core functional modules of FCP. FCP-Suite targets medium and large enterprises with a broader and more advanced enterprise feature set, including hybrid cloud capabilities.

Core Features

  • Standard edition of the Fsched scheduler: A high-performance scheduler with independent intellectual property, strong compatibility, high performance, and solid stability.
  • Web-based management interface: Reduces command-line work for R&D and IT teams and simplifies day-to-day operations.
  • Job submission wizard: Lets users define job submission templates and turn complex command-line workflows into simple GUI operations.
  • Cluster lifecycle management: Quickly deploy Fsched clusters with FCP, configure scheduling policies, modify cluster nodes, or destroy and recreate clusters.
  • Monitoring and alerts: Built-in monitoring provides rich metrics and predefined alert policies, while allowing administrators to define custom alerting strategies.

The following features are available only in FCP-SE and FCP-Suite:

  • Operational analytics: Analyze and visualize important long-term operational data, with support for report export.
  • Data approval: Manage data import and export in restricted environments to protect R&D data security.
  • Virtual desktops: A lightweight desktop environment that works out of the box in the browser with no client installation required.
  • High availability: Supports HA deployment to maximize platform stability and reliability.
  • Multi-architecture support: Supports x86, ARM, Loongson, and other computing architectures, as well as GPU scheduling.

Compared with FCP-SE, FCP-Suite supports larger-scale clusters and provides hybrid cloud capabilities:

  • Burst to cloud: Offload peak workloads to the cloud to form a hybrid cloud architecture, improve R&D efficiency, and minimize computing cost.
