Available only when Hybrid Cloud is enabled in FCP-Suite.

Basic Concepts

Faststor Essential file systems provide file storage through the standard NFS protocol for remote network file access. Compute nodes can mount the file system and operate on files through standard POSIX interfaces. The following table compares the two file system editions:

Key Benefits

Cost

  • A single file system can be mounted to multiple clusters and compute nodes for shared access, reducing data copy and sync costs.
  • A web UI allows you to create and configure file systems quickly, reducing deployment and maintenance effort.
  • No large upfront investment is required. Expansion does not require purchasing physical storage devices, reducing time and hardware costs.
  • Purchase on demand and pay elastically to adapt to changing workloads.

Ease of operation

  • Create a file system with one click. No need to deploy and maintain storage software yourself. Manage and configure via the web UI.

Integration with other Fastone products

  • Integrates with Monitoring and Alerts for fast response to issues.
  • Integrates with cluster management, making mount configuration and maintenance easier.

Security

  • VPC network isolation: file systems are placed in a VPC; different customers use different VPCs for isolation.
  • Shared directory access control: set authorized CIDRs for shared directories to control which networks can access them.
  • Security group control: control ingress and egress traffic using security groups to reduce exposure.

Professional support

  • Professional technical support services are available.

Features

  • Lifecycle management: create, release, upgrade, and expand file systems.
  • Shared access: allow multiple clusters and compute nodes to access the same file system.
  • Data compression: compression and deduplication reduce storage usage and can save 30% to 80% space (depending on workload).
  • Elastic capacity: expand capacity without interrupting applications, using one-click automated operations.
  • NFS support: supports standard NFSv3 protocol for mainstream OS clients such as CentOS and Ubuntu.
  • ACL access control: set permissions for specific users/groups beyond owner/group/other.
  • Performance monitoring: visual monitoring dashboards.
  • Alerting: set alert rules and thresholds for monitoring metrics and receive notifications when thresholds are met.
  • Multiple editions: Base edition and Performance edition.
  • Quota management: manage file-system-level quotas to limit user/group capacity usage in shared directories.
  • Authentication integration: integrates with Microsoft Active Directory and LDAP for secure access.
  • Backup and restore: full point-in-time backups of file system configuration and data; restore quickly in case of failures or logical errors. Supports restoring to a new file system.
