Desktop Applications

This guide explains how to use Desktop Applications in Desktop Portal to quickly launch common Linux and Windows applications. The feature provides visual application templates. Click an application icon to automatically open the corresponding graphical desktop and start the application.

Prerequisites

  • You have a Desktop Portal account and are logged in.
  • You have permission to access Desktop Applications. Contact your administrator if needed.

Desktop Applications (Linux)

Access Desktop Applications (Linux)

  1. Log in to Desktop Portal.
  2. Click Desktop Applications (Linux) in the top navigation bar.

Launch an Application

  1. On the Desktop Applications (Linux) page, browse available application templates.
  2. Click the application icon you want to use.
  3. The system will open a Linux graphical desktop and start the application automatically.

Use the Application

  1. In the Linux graphical desktop, you can use the application as you would on a local computer.
  2. Use your mouse and keyboard, and any other features provided by the desktop environment.

  1. Log in to Desktop Portal.
  2. Click Desktop Applications (Win) in the top navigation bar.

  3. The system will open a Windows graphical desktop and start the application automatically.

FAQs

  • Error: "No available node to establish a connection. Please check node status and connection count."
    • Confirm you have Desktop Applications permission.
    • Confirm there is an available desktop node. Contact your administrator to verify availability.
    • Check your network connectivity.
  • Application failed to start:
    • Contact your administrator to check application configuration and runtime status.
  • Abnormal application behavior:
    • Try restarting the application.
    • Contact your administrator to check configuration and runtime status.
